The American Dream is still alive according to Trulia.com’s most recent survey.  The survey revealed that “70% of Americans say owning a home is part of their personal American Dream.  In fact, among those who own a home, a large percentage of them say it was the best investment they ever made.”

According to new figures released by the Kansas Association of REALTORS, “Kansas home sales were stable in December 2010 compared to the same period last year.  Sales in Kansas totaled 2,032 units in December, which is just one more than the 2,031 units sold in 2009.  However, sales on a national level have decreased 2.9% for the month of December 2010.”

In December 2010, Kansas had an average home sale price of $158,628, compared to $151,952 in December 2009.  This represents an increase of 4.4%.  In Geary County, the average home sale price in December 2010 was $141,801.  The average home sold consisted of 3 Bedrooms and 2 Baths with days on the market being 118.

Junction City is looking forward to many troops returning to Ft. Riley in the upcoming months.  Since these troops have been deployed overseas, many of them may still qualify for an extension of the first time home buyers tax credit.
